Ezgjan Alioski has terminated his contract with Saudi club Al-Ahli following their relegation from the Saudi Pro League. The North Macedonian international left Leeds United last summer after four years and 171 appearances at the club, including 36 Premier League games during the Whites ninth-place finish during the 2020/2021 season under Marcelo Bielsa.
Despite being a midfielder naturally, Alioski proved a resolute stand-in at left-back during his time in West Yorkshire and became a fan-favourite among the Elland Road faithful for his relentless work-rate and equally relentless energy on camera.
He featured 28 times last season for Al-Ahli, with six goals and nine assists to his name, but ultimately finished 15th in a 16-team league after winning just six games and picking up 32 points. And he has now terminated his contract with the Saudi club and become a free agent - leading to some calls for a return to Elland Road.
And several Whites fans took to Twitter to make their plea.
@lufcluke91 tweeted: Come on @LUFC bring our Macedonian back home even if it’s just for a season. Could still do a job when called upon
@IdlePastimes said: Bring him back so I can shout 'Don't shoot from there!' forty times a season to see one finally fly in to the top corner. #lufc
@TyroneBrant1 tweeted: @andrearadri Radz, Alioski is a free agent, bring him home!! We missed the madman last season, he can still do a job for Leeds!! MOT
@ianhds09 said: Take him back in a heartbeat
@LaurynHall88 tweeted: @ezgjanalioski come home king!
