Come Dine With Me: The Professionals contestant claims to have cooked for Princess Diana, Simon Cowell and the Queen

Come Dine With Me: The Professionals debuted on Channel 4 today (June 27). The new format saw three restaurant owners host dinner parties at their respective eateries in a bid to win £1,000.

Given the professional nature of this spin-off, it’s unsurprising that its participants had a fair amount of self-confidence about their personal skills in the kitchen. One of the chefs, Brian, was keen to boast about his history cooking for some of the biggest names in the UK.

During the first evening, when Brian and his partner Lisa enjoyed posh nosh at The Barn, Brian proclaimed to have cooked for Princess Diana, Bill Clinton and even the Queen. He also stated how he was formerly Simon Cowell’s personal chef.

The names were reeled off in quick succession, with Brian even saying how it just becomes "white noise", and his fellow guests were quick to jump in before the list continued to grow. Inevitably, viewers took to Twitter to mock Brian’s boasts.

@YTVChase joked: “I can’t stand name droppers. I was only complaining about them to Joan Collins this morning. #ComeDineWithMe.”

@mcharper04 moaned: “Any more names to drop then? Eughhhh #ComeDineWithMe.” @John51244439 argued he “Dropped names quicker than @GylesB1 #ComeDineWithMe.”

Brian and Lisa welcomed their two competitors to their Disco Kitchen restaurant for the second party of the competition. During the creation of their three-course menu (runny hen’s egg for starter, burger and burrito for main and a chocolate and Seville orange torte for dessert), Brian’s competitive chef nature became apparent.

As he was dishing up the main, Brian shouted at Lisa: “I’m conscious of our guests and you’re here doing absolutely nothing.” Despite his famous connections, Brian’s best efforts didn’t result in the grand prize for the first ever Professionals contest.
