Columbus Crew Soccer Player Had a Heartfelt, Private Moment on the Field After MLS Cup Win

If you are a kid who grew up playing competitive sports, no matter when you stopped, chances are you envisioned winning the championship for your home region’s team at some point.

You pictured yourself hitting a ball out of Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. You swished free throws to cut down the Final Four nets in Hartford. You called your own number to lead the Packers to the Promised Land in Sheboygan.

Very few make that dream come true. The select few that do—the LeBron Jameses of the world—are afforded a special reverence.

So it will be for Aidan Morris in Columbus and its sprawling, soccer-friendly network of suburbs. The midfielder, who attended high school in nearby New Albany, has now won two MLS Cup titles with the nearby Crew after a 2–1 triumph over Los Angeles FC Saturday.

After the victory, he celebrated in torrential rain by seemingly reflecting on his accomplishments now and in 2020.

The intimate video was captured by WBNS-TV’s Adam King at Columbus’s Lower.com Field after the game.

Despite the weather, Morris—not only a two-time champion at 22, but also a first-time All-Star this season—seemed right at home.
