Colts’ Yannick Ngakoue: ‘This week feels a little different’

It’s been a few years since Yannick Ngakoue was traded by the Jacksonville Jaguars, but the former Pro Bowl pass rusher is ready for his revenge game, even if it’s a little late.

Ngakoue, 27, was traded to the Indianapolis Colts in March and is now set to play his first game at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville since the end of 2019. On Tuesday, he tweeted that the Week 2 meeting against the Jaguars isn’t just another game.

Ngakoue began his career as the Jaguars’ third-round pick in 2016 and racked up 37.5 sacks, 14 forced fumbles, and two defensive touchdowns during four seasons with the team. In 2020, after a lengthy contract dispute, Ngakoue was traded to the Minnesota Vikings for a second-round pick that eventually became offensive tackle Walker Little.

He was later traded by the Vikings to the Baltimore Ravens, and then joined the Las Vegas Raiders as a free agent in 2021. The Raiders traded him to the Colts in exchange for cornerback Rock Ya-Sin.

In his first game in Indianapolis, Ngakoue played 81 percent of the defensive snaps and recorded one tackle for loss.
