Up next for the Indianapolis Colts is a Week 16 matchup at home against the Tennessee Titans, who are reportedly going to be making a switch at quarterback for Sunday’s game.
According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Titans are “planning to make a switch at quarterback this week.”
Fowler adds that Mason Rudolph is the logical candidate to step in for Will Levis, who will likely head to the bench “barring a surprise.”
Levis has been the Titans’ primary starter this season except when he missed time due to injury. However, in Sunday’s loss to Cincinnati, Levis was benched after completing 8-of-12 passes for 89 yards but throwing three interceptions.
Rudolph then came into the game and completed 21-of-26 passes for 209 yards with two touchdowns to one interception.
On the season, Levis has completed 63.7 percent of his throws at 6.7 yards per attempt with 12 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Those 12 interceptions are the fourth-most in football and he ranks 26th in yards per pass attempt.
The Colts would defeat Levis and the Titans in the first matchup between these two teams with Levis throwing for only 95 yards on 27 attempts with a touchdown and a pick.
Rudolph, meanwhile, has appeared in five games this season, completing 63 percent of his 154 attempts at 6.6 yards per attempt with six touchdowns and five interceptions.
Overall, the Tennessee offense ranks 27th in points per game with 18.1 and is 26th in yards per play at 5.0.
Despite the passing game’s struggles, the Titans’ offense does feature Calvin Ridley at receiver, who has totaled 779 receiving yards this season at nearly 15.0 yards per catch.
The Colts defense is coming off of one of its better performances of the season against Denver.
Even with the loss to the Broncos, the Colts’ playoff hopes are still mathematically alive.
