Colts trading Carson Wentz to the Commanders

The Indianapolis Colts’ reunion of Frank Reich and Carson Wentz lasted all of one year.

A day after a couple of quarterback carousel bombshells, the AFC South team is sending Wentz back to the NFC East.

He will be playing for the Washington Commanders in 2022.

Wentz will get to see another of his former teams twice in 2022. He was drafted second overall by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2016.

Wentz led the Colts to a 9-8 record in 2021 but they fell short of a playoff berth, losing to Jacksonville in the final week.

Washington’s QB situation is bleak. Ryan Fitzpatrick was signed last year and injured early. He was replaced by Taylor Heinicke, who did a serviceable job.

Went threw for 3,563 yards and 27 touchdowns against 7 interceptions with the Colts.

Reich worked with him in Philadelphia.

As things would have it, the Commanders will not only play the Eagles twice in 2022, but they will also play at Indianapolis.

The quarterback carousel keeps spinning with Aaron Rodgers re-signing with Green Bay on Tuesday and Russell Wilson being dealt to Denver.
