The Indianapolis Colts became the latest NFL team to hop off the league’s quarterback carousel, emerging in a much better position than when they got on.
On Monday, the Colts acquired veteran Matt Ryan from the Atlanta Falcons for a 2022 third-round draft pick Indy held after dealing Carson Wentz to the Washington Commanders.
It’s a much-needed upgrade for a Colts team that was on the brink of a postseason berth last year and should contend in the AFC South in 2022. With offensive stars like tailback Jonathan Taylor alongside wideouts Michael Pittman Jr. and Parris Campbell, Indianapolis can start raising expectations for the year ahead.
The Falcons, meanwhile, look headed for a years-long rebuild.
Here’s how oddsmakers at Tipico Sportsbook are reacting after Monday’s transaction.

So, basically, the Colts ending up sending the extra third-rounder they got in the Carson Wentz deal down to Atlanta for Matt Ryan.
Believe Colts will owe Ryan around $24 million this year and $28 next, which they can totally make work.
