Colts sign offensive lineman to 53-man roster heading into Week 17

The Indianapolis Colts announced on Tuesday that they have signed guard Mark Glowinski from the practice squad to the 53-man roster.

This was an expected move.

Glowinski took over as the team’s starting right guard in Week 13 against New England but has remained on the practice squad.

With each practice squad player able to be elevated to the gameday roster up to three times over the course of the season, there really wasn’t a rush for the Colts to add Glowinski to the active roster prior to today.

However, following Sunday’s game against Tennessee, Glowinski didn’t have any more gameday elevations available. So, if the Colts want him to continue starting at right guard over these final two games, a move to the active roster was needed.

Since Glowinski has taken over at right guard, the Colts’ run game has been much more consistent over these last three games. Glowinski has, however, taken some lumps in pass protection, allowing 11 pressures and two sacks, according to PFF.

With the Colts waiving Atonio Mafi from the 53-man roster on Monday, the team had an opening to add Glowinski.

There are two two openings on the practice squad that will need to be filled with Glowinski on the active roster and Tre Flowers on the injured list.
