Colts reportedly workout 12 players ahead of joint practices with Cardinals

On Tuesday, the Indianapolis Colts reportedly worked out 12 players.

According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 Houston, the Colts had the following players in for a workout:

RB Eno Benjamin
DE Taco Charlton
WR Avery Davis
DE Porter Gustin
DE Justin Hollins
WR Kaylon Horton
RB Joshua Kelley
WR Jaylon Moore
DE Derek Rivers
RB Larry Rountree
RB SaRodorick Thompson
WR Greg Ward

As of this time, there hasn’t been any signing that has been announced, and there may not be.

Throughout training camp and into the regular season, teams will regularly hold workouts–often on Tuesdays–to build out an emergency big board, so to speak, in case they find themselves in a pinch at a position and need to make a quick addition.

However, having said that, the three positions that the Colts worked out on Tuesday are all positions where they are navigating injuries at the moment.

At wide receiver, the team is without Josh Downs. At defensive end, Genard Avery has missed time recently. And at running back, the team waived/injured Trent Pennix to acquire Demetric Felton, but Trey Sermon would also leave Sunday’s game as well with a hamstring injury.

With a full roster, if an addition is going to be made, a corresponding move will have to be made to make room for that player on the roster.

With the team holding joint practices and then having a preseason game with Arizona this week, if there was a signing, it will be announced on Wednesday.
