The Indianapolis Colts announced on Tuesday that they made two additions to the practice squad, signing a pair of defensive linemen.
In order to make room for these two new players on the practice squad, there had to be a pair of corresponding roster moves. The first was quarterback Jason Bean being placed on the practice squad injured list.
The second move was the team releasing cornerback Kelvin Joseph, who had just been signed by the Colts two weeks ago.
Joseph was a former second-round pick by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2021 NFL draft. He has also spent time with Miami and Seattle as well.
Joseph has appeared in 31 games over his career, which includes seven starts. He has played 353 total defensive snaps, almost all of which have come as a boundary cornerback. The bulk of his playing time came during the 2021 and 2022 seasons, where he was also a core special teams contributor.
In coverage, Joseph has surrendered a completion rate of 60 percent on 35 targets, giving up a hefty 15.0 yards per catch with four pass breakups, according to Pro Football Focus.
Without Joseph, the Colts still have three cornerbacks on the practice squad with Gregory Junior, David Long, and Jaylin Simpson.
On the 53-man roster, the depth of this unit continues to be tested with Kenny Moore and Dallis Flowers exiting Sunday’s game against Chicago late. As of Monday, head coach Shane Steichen did not have any updates on Moore.
