Colts re-sign linebacker to one-year extension for 2025

The Indianapolis Colts announced that they’ve signed linebacker Cameron McGrone to a one-year extension for the 2025 season.

McGrone was set to be an exclusive rights free agent this offseason, per Over the Cap

During training camp, McGrone would suffer an elbow injury that landed him on injured reserve to start the season. He would return for the Colts’ Week 8 matchup against the Houston Texans and was a core special teams contributor for the remainder of the season.

According to Pro Football Focus, McGrone would play 156 special teams snaps across four different phases. Despite ranking 13th on the team in special teams snaps due to missed time, McGrone would still record the third-most solo tackles.

For what it’s worth, on the Colts team, he had the second-highest special teams grade by PFF’s metrics.

Defensively, McGrone appeared in one game, playing one snap in the Colts’ Week 16 game versus the Tennessee Titans.

The linebacker position is one that the Colts will likely have to add to this season, not only for possible upgrades but potential depth with Grant Stuard and EJ Speed both set to be free agents.
