Colts’ RB Jonathan Taylor eclipses 1,000 yard mark with big touchdown run vs Titans

With a 65-yard touchdown run against the Tennessee Titans, Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor eclipsed the 1,000-yard rushing mark this season.

On a 3rd-and-1 from their own 29-yard line, Anthony Richardson handed the ball off to Taylor, who, with the help of his offensive line, was able to get to the second level. From there, as he does, Taylor made a defender miss and then outran everyone to the end zone, where he made sure to hold on to the ball not only through the goal line but carried it into the tunnel.

After a bumpy start for the Indianapolis offense in this game, the running game provided a huge spark. Prior to Taylor’s big run, the Colts put together a six-play, 57 yard touchdown drive the possession before, running the ball on all six plays, which included a 29 yard run by Richardson.

At one point in the second quarter, the Colts ran the ball on 12 straight plays.

Only four possessions into this game, Taylor had totaled 112 rushing yards on 11 carries, and the Colts’ offense as a whole, with the help of Richardson, has 169 rushing yards–which is already a season-high for them.

Due to some missed time with an injury, Taylor has appeared in only 12 games this season, but managed to eclipse the 1,000-yard mark. This is now the third time in his career that he’s surpassed 1,000 yards and is the first time he’s done so since 2021.

Taylor entered Week 16 ranked eighth in the NFL in rushing yards this season and was eighth in rushes of at least 10 yards as well.

Taylor is now the fourth Colts player in team history to rush for 1,000 yards at least three times, joining Edgerrin James, Marshall Faulk, and Lydell Mitchell.
