Colts QB Anthony Richardson Ruled Out With Concussion vs. Texans

Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson was ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Texans with a concussion, the team announced. The No. 4 pick in April’s NFL draft appeared to suffer the injury after scoring his second touchdown run on the day.

With nine minutes left in the first quarter, Richardson rolled to his right on a designed run play at the 20-yard line and was able to find the end zone but took a shot from Houston safety M.J. Stewart. Richardson fell on the back of his neck but appeared to be fine, immediately springing up to celebrate the score.

But in the beginning of the second quarter he was seen being escorted to the locker room before eventually being diagnosed with a concussion. Gardner Minshew stepped in to fill in for Richardson, whose day finished with 56 passing yards and 35 rushing yards.

Richardson is expected to be the face of the franchise for years to come, making the injury all the more worrying. For the Colts’ sake, hopefully the budding star is alright and bounces back.
