Colts, QB Anthony Richardson Agree to Four-Year, $33.9 Million Deal, per Report

The Colts and first-round pick Anthony Richardson have reportedly agreed to terms on the quarterback’s rookie contract.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Richardson’s rookie deal will be a fully-guaranteed four-year, $33.99 million deal. As an upfront signing bonus, Richardson will receive $21.72 million.

Richardson’s agent Deiric Jackson of Legacy Sports Advisors is said to have negotiated the deal.

Indianapolis selected Richardson with the No. 4 pick in the 2023 NFL draft out of the University of Florida. With the Gators, Richardson played three seasons, getting promoted to the starting quarterback role for his sophomore year in 2022.

As a sophomore, Richardson threw 17 touchdowns and nine interceptions while completing just 53.8% of his pass attempts, but showed off his athleticism on a regular basis. On the ground, the 21-year-old recorded 654 yards on 103 attempts and scored nine touchdowns.

Richardson expects to compete for the Colts’ starting quarterback role in 2023. He’ll be in the mix in a quarterbacks room which also consists of Gardner Minshew and Sam Ehlinger.

Richardson’s rookie deal comes in at a slightly higher valuation than that of No. 2 pick C.J. Stroud, who also reportedly agreed to his first NFL contract with the Texans on Monday. Stroud’s four-year deal is worth $36.3 million, though his upfront signing bonus was worth a fully-guaranteed $23.38 million.
