Colts’ player of the game vs. Ravens: K Matt Gay

The Indianapolis Colts (2-1) fought their way to a 22-19 upset victory over the Baltimore Ravens (2-1) on Sunday at M&T Bank Stadium.

They did so on the back of a historic performance from kicker Matt Gay, who converted all five of his field-goal attempts, four of which came from over 50 yards.

He’s the first player in NFL history to convert four field-goal attempts over 50 yards. He converted a 54-yarder and three 53-yarders, including the game-winner in overtime.

This is the exact reason why the Colts made Gay such a priority during free agency. They gave him the largest free-agent deal in NFL history at the position, and it only took him three weeks to make history on the field.

The entire team fought their way to this win, and it’s clear the players want to fight for head coach Shane Steichen. But they wouldn’t have gotten this win without the performance from their kicker.
