If the Indianapolis Colts are going to make the playoffs, the Miami Dolphins may have to provide them with some help. However, it looks like the Dolphins are going to be without quarterback Tua Tagovailoa for their Week 17 game.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Tagovailoa is working through a hip injury and has been downgraded to doubtful for the team’s game in Cleveland on Sunday.
Schefter adds that Tagovailoa is still “pushing to play,” but if he can’t, Tyler Huntley will get the start.
One path that the Colts have to making the playoffs consists of them obviously winning their final two games, along with the Denver Broncos losing thier final two games, and the third part of that equation is either Miami or Cincinnati winning out.
The reason that the Colts needed added help from either the Dolphins or Bengals is because that then creates a three-way tie, wiping out the head-to-head tie-breaker that the Broncos hold over Indianapolis. Instead, the tie-breaker among three teams would be best conference record, which the Colts hold.
Huntley, has made three starts this season for the Dolphins, including one against Indianapolis in Week 7. He’s completed 59% of his throws at 5.7 yards per attempt with one touchdown and one interception.
The Browns defense this season ranks 26th in points per game allowed, surrendering 25.3 per contest, and rank 27th in yards per pass attempt given up.
