The Indianapolis Colts (0-0-1) are coming off of a tie to begin the season and now will be looking to exorcise some previous demons when they visit the Jacksonville Jaguars (0-1) at TIAA Bank Field in Week 2.
The last time the Colts were in Duval County, they watched their season slowly drift away. All they had to do was defeat the team holding the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft to make the playoffs, but they wound up losing 26-11.
It’s a new season, though, and Tipico Sportsbook has the Colts opening the week as 3.5-point road favorites.
Spread | Moneyline | Total Points | |
Indianapolis Colts (0-0-1) | -3.5 | -200 | TBD |
Jacksonville Jaguars (0-1) | +3.5 | +165 | TBD |
Oddly, the total points for the matchups haven’t been provided by Tipico yet. We’ll update that section when they do.
Even after coming away with a tie against the Texans, it’s no surprise the Colts are favored. They appear to be the better team on paper, but this Week 2 game will be no walk in the park.
The Colts haven’t won a game in Duval County since the 2014 season. There’s something about the water in Jacksonville that keeps the Colts from walking away with a victory.
The Jaguars nearly pulled off an upset against the Washington Commanders in Week 1, but the latter’s new quarterback in Carson Wentz finished with a strong day of 313 passing yards and four touchdowns.
That should be encouraging news for Matt Ryan and the passing offense, which had both strong and poor moments in Week 1.
The Colts are favored in this road matchup, but the fanbase is smarter than to simply assume a victory given the history down in Jacksonville.
