Colts open as big home underdogs to Chiefs in Week 3

To no surprise, the Indianapolis Colts (0-1-1) will begin preparation for their Week 3 matchup as big underdogs to the Kansas City Chiefs (2-0) ahead of their home opener at Lucas Oil Stadium.

After tying the Houston Texans in Week 1 and then getting embarrassed in a 24-0 loss against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2, it’s a surprise that the spread isn’t bigger than what it is to open the week.

According to Tipico Sportsbook, here are the opening odds for the Week 3 matchup:

Spread Moneyline Total Points
Kansas City Chiefs (2-0) -6.5 -280 U 49.5
-105
Indianapolis Colts (0-1-1) +6.5 +230 O 49.5
-115

The Chiefs have looked like one of the best teams in football. Patrick Mahomes continues to lead the elite tier of quarterbacks while Travis Kelce is showing no signs of slowing down at the age of 32. They may have some questions in the wide receiver room, but they still have plenty of weapons.

The Colts, meanwhile, have been an utter disaster. Being without Michael Pittman Jr. and Shaquille Leonard in Week 2 certainly impacted the outcome. But getting blown out 24-0 in the fashion that they did was still inexcusable.

The Colts could still come out and make a statement by being competitive in this game. It wouldn’t be logical to choose them to win but at full strength, they should look more competitive than they have in the first two weeks.

We’ll see how the Colts respond to one of their worst losses this century, which could be a major factor moving forward.
