The Indianapolis Colts picked up their second straight win to improve to 2-2 on the season. But what else happened around the AFC South this week?
The Jacksonville Jaguars and the Houston Texans faced each other this past week. At halftime, Houston was up 17-13 but a quiet second half by the Texans, which included five straight punts at one point, left them trailing 20-17 late.
With it looking like the Jaguars might pull off the upset, CJ Stroud led a nine-play, 69-yard drive to give the Texans the 24-20 lead in the final minute of Sunday’s game.
Stroud finished the game 27-for-40, throwing for 345 yards and two scores. It was another big day for Nico Collins, who had 151 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Trevor Lawrence, meanwhile, was 18-of-33 passing for 169 yards with two touchdowns. Tank Bigsby and Travie Etienne combined for 140 rushing yards on 18 carries, while rookie receiver Brian Thomas had 86 receiving yards and a score.
The Tennessee Titans would face the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football. With quarterback Will Levis exiting the game early with a shoulder injury, Mason Rudolph took over for the Titans and led to their first victory of the season.
The Titans defense shut down the Dolphins offense, holding that unit to just 12 total points and 3.4 yards per play. Rudolph would complete 9-of-17 passes for 85 yards, while Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears combined for 127 rushing yards on 37 carries.
Tennessee’s kicker Nick Folk was 5-for-5 on field goal attempts, including a 53-yarder.
Now four weeks into the NFL season, the Texans sit at the top of the AFC South with a 3-1 record. The Colts are 2-2, the Titans 1-3, and the Jaguars 0-4.
Next up for the Colts is a matchup with the Jaguars on the road. The Titans have an early bye week and the Texans take on the Buffalo Bills.
