Following the Indianapolis Colts’ Week 7 win over the Miami Dolphins, the team announced a pair of practice squad moves on Monday.
Back once again is kicker Spencer Shrader, who has been on and off the Colts’ practice squad on a weekly basis over the last month.
The corresponding move to make room for Shrader was releasing running back Trent Pennix.
Although Jonathan Taylor is still sidelined as of now, the Colts still have the needed running back depth to get through practices with Trey Sermon, Tyler Goodson, and Evan Hull on the 53-man roster, along with Salvon Ahmed on the practice squad.
Shrader was signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent this past April and spent training camp with the team.
Appearing in two preseason games, Shrader was 4-for-4 on extra points and 2-for-2 on field goals, which included making a 50-plus yarder.
With Matt Gay dealing with a hernia injury at the start of the season, the Colts elevated Shrader for their Week 1 matchup with the Houston Texans. Schrader would make all three extra point attempts in that game.
While the Colts haven’t confirmed this, Justin Melo of The Draft Network reported that Indianapolis is working out a running back on Monday. For more on that, click here.
