Indianapolis Colts defensive end Jabaal Sheard reportedly underwent a knee procedure, per Mike Chappell of Fox59. The timetable for his return hasn’t yet been determined.
Sheard initially injured his knee during the first training camp practice for the Colts on July 25. He hasn’t practiced since the injury, and the Colts knew he would be out a while.
With the knee procedure, it isn’t clear how severe of an operation it was. This makes it difficult to determine a timeline for his return.
Sheard has been a steady and consistent force on the edge for the Colts since he signed with the team in 2017. He’s a stout run defender and an underrated power rusher. He’s recorded 5.5 sacks in each of the last two seasons.
With his absence, his snaps will be up for grabs for Kemoko Turay, Al-Quadin Muhammad and second-round pick Ben Banogu.
