Colts injury news: Two players questionable vs. Bears

The Indianapolis Colts released their final injury report ahead of their Week 3 matchup against the Chicago Bears. They’ll go into Sunday with two players listed as questionable.

Laiatu Latu practiced for the first time on Friday after missing the previous two days with a hip injury he sustained against the Green Bay Packers.

If Latu can’t go, the Colts defensive front depth will be tested even further as they are already without DeForest Buckner. The Bears offensive line has been vulnerbale through two games, surrendering the second-most sacks and averaging only 3.5 yards per rush.

While Latu hasn’t filled the stat sheet in his first two games, he is consistently winning as a pass rusher, ranked among the best defensive ends in PFF’s pass rush win rate metric. Ultimately, consistency will lead to production.

Added to the injury report was receiver Michael Pittman. He did not practice Friday after being available the first two days. It was a back/calf injury that kept him out.

Following Friday’s practice, head coach Shane Steichen did say that he expected Pittman to play.

Pittman has had a quiet first two games with seven receptions for 52 yards.

Available for the Colts will be Julian Blackmon, who missed last week’s game, as well as Josh Downs, who will be making his 2024 regular season debut.

The return of Downs will help provide some much-needed stability to the Colts short to intermediate passing games–an area where they’ve struggled to find consistency, thus hurting their ability to sustain drives.
