The Indianapolis Colts are right in the middle of the playoff picture with seven games remaining so their thoughts aren’t immediately on the upcoming 2024 NFL draft.
But that doesn’t mean we can’t take a little peek at what might be on the table for them come late April in 2024. Our friends over at Draft Wire conducted a two-round mock draft on Thanksgiving.
Holding the No. 15 overall pick in this mock draft, the Colts used their first-round selection on wide receiver Keon Coleman out of Florida State. Here’s what Draft Wire said about the pick:
The Colts have their franchise quarterback and this pick gets him a No. 1 receiver to throw to.
In 10 games, Coleman has recorded 45 receptions for 615 yards and 11 touchdowns for the Seminoles. At 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds, Coleman profiles as an X-receiver at the NFL level.
It will be interesting to see how Michael Pittman Jr.’s contract situation impacts the offseason. If he gets an extension, finding a true X-receiver may not be as high on the priority list.
In the second round of the mock draft, the Colts went with offensive tackle Patrick Paul out of Houston.
Finding more depth behind Bernhard Raimann and Braden Smith will be a priority this offseason so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Colts go in that direction next April.
