And then there were two.
The Indianapolis Colts are now one of two teams still searching for their next head coach after the news Tuesday that the Denver Broncos and Houston Texans both found the leaders of their roster.
Buy Colts TicketsAlong with the Colts, who continue to narrow down their list of finalists, the Arizona Cardinals also are searching for their new head coach going into the month of February.
The Broncos made headlines Tuesday when they traded a first-round pick to the New Orleans Saints for Sean Payton to be their next head coach.
Meanwhile, the Texans officially hired San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans as their next head coach. He was the favorite from the jump for that job.
The Carolina Panthers were the first team to find their new head coach, which came in the form of former Colts head coach Frank Reich.
There was always the possibility the Colts were going to be among the final teams searching for a head coach. General manager Chris Ballard said as much in his end-of-season press conference.
With owner Jim Irsay still heavily considering Jeff Saturday for the job despite the disastrous end of the season, it makes sense that Ballard will want to put together as many candidates as possible.
The Colts are likely wrapping up their final interviews this week, but the process is always subject to change.
We’ll keep you updated constantly with our tracker until the Colts finally decide on their next head coach.
