Colts Announce Injury Decision for QB Anthony Richardson, Sign Another Young Quarterback

The Colts have placed rookie starting quarterback Anthony Richardson on injured reserve, the team announced on Wednesday morning.

Richardson will now miss at least the next four games after injuring the AC joint in his right shoulder in Sunday’s victory over the Titans. Gardner Minshew, who took over in relief for Richardson on Sunday, will now take over the starting quarterback duties while the rookie quarterback recovers.

The Colts also announced on Wednesday morning that they have added quarterback Kellen Mond to the practice squad. Mond was one of four quarterbacks who worked out for Indianapolis on Tuesday, joining free agents Ian Book, Holton Ahlers and Trace McSorley.

Indianapolis will now move forward with Minshew as the starter, with Sam Ehlinger and Mond jockeying for primary backup duties with Richardson out of the lineup.

In four games this season, Richardson has completed 59.5% of his passes for 577 yards and three touchdowns to one interception. He has also added 136 rushing yards and four scores on the ground in his first season under center for the Colts.
