Colts already viewed as huge favorites for Week 1 vs. Texans

The Indianapolis Colts are still a few months away from preparing for the Week 1 matchup against the Houston Texans, but they are already viewed as massive favorites for the contest at NRG Stadium.

In fact, the Colts are the largest favorites of the week when it comes to the spread, according to Tipico Sportsbook. While things can certainly change over the next few months, the Colts are 7.5-point road favorites for Week 1.

Spread Moneyline Total
Indianapolis Colts -7.5 -410 O 43.5
-117
Houston Texans +7.5 +310 U 43.5
-103

It should be no surprise that the Colts are heavily favored for this opening-week matchup. Even though they haven’t won Week 1 game in eight consecutive seasons, this is the best chance they have to end the horrid streak.

The Colts have made some big improvements to both sides of the ball. They traded away Carson Wentz and then traded for Matt Ryan. They added some young upside pieces to the offensive line and receiving corps.

Meanwhile, the defense got a big boost with the additions of Yannick Ngakoue and Stephon Gilmore to go along with some very intriguing defensive players through the draft.

The Texans are leaning on Davis Mills to lead the offense while they also added wide receiver John Metchie III through the draft. Their defense is still a major question mark even after adding the likes of cornerback Derek Stingley with the No. 3 overall pick.

A lot can change between now and Week 1, especially when it comes to injuries, but the Colts are currently the biggest favorites for the opening week of the 2022 NFL season.
