Colts’ AFC South offseason preview: Jacksonville Jaguars

The offseason has now officially arrived for the entire AFC South. So let’s preview what’s ahead for the Indianapolis Colts’ divisional opponents, starting with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Changes to the coaching staff

Following a four-win season, the Jaguars fired head coach Doug Pederson but did retain general manager Trent Baalke. The Jaguars brought in 10 candidates to interview for their head coaching opening, and a few of the names that the team reportedly has interest in include Ben Johnson, Aaron Glenn, and Liam Coen.

Trevor Lawrence update

Quarterback Trevor Lawrence underwent surgery on a shoulder injury that landed him on injured reserve during the second half of the season. Lawrence said recently that he will be good to go for the season and is hoping to be available for “most of OTAs” as well.

2025 NFL draft

The Jaguars hold the fifth overall pick in this year’s draft and they have 10 selections in total–among the most in the NFL this year. According to NFL.com, some positions of need for the Jaguars include cornerback, safety, and the offensive line, among others.

Salary cap situation

The Jaguars currently have $35.26 million in available cap space this offseason, according to Over the Cap. Not yet accounting for the rollover of unused cap space from 2024, this ranks as the 17th most in the NFL.
