Colts add to CB room in Daniel Jeremiah’s first 2025 NFL mock draft

One of the best in the business, Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com, released his first 2025 NFL mock draft. So who did he have the Indianapolis Colts taking?

While tight end Tyler Warren and safety Malaki Starks have been popular picks for the Colts in many mock drafts, Jeremiah had Indianapolis addressing another big need, taking Texas cornerback Jahdae Barron.

And in case you’re wondering about Warren, he went top-10 in Jeremiah’s mock.

Barron is listed at 5-11 – 200 pounds. He’s fairly experienced player as well, with over 2,600 career snaps, including three seasons as a starter at Texas.

He has both slot and boundary experience, with the bulk of his snaps in 2022 and 2023 coming from the nickel. In 2024, Barron lined up mostly on the outside.

Barron proved to be a sound tackler this season, while in coverage, he allowed a completion rate of just 54% and only 7.8 yards per catch–a highly impressive number for a boundary cornerback.

Barron would have excellent ball production this past year as well, totaling five interceptions and nine pass breakups.

“I think you’ll see the buzz around Barron continue to grow,” wrote Jeremiah. “He possesses great quickness, instincts and ball skills.”

The Colts did see some growth from Jaylon Jones in 2024 and the emergence of Samuel Womack, but as GM Chris Ballard said during his season-ending press conference, the play in the secondary overall has to improve.

In completion percentage allowed, yards per pass attempt, pass deflections, and passer rating, the Colts ranked in the bottom-10 of the NFL in each category, not to mention that big plays were an issue all year as well.

The addition of Lou Anarumo at defensive coordinator could provide a big boost for the Colts’ secondary, but that position group very much needs to be added to.
