Bucky Brooks of NFL.com released his first mock draft of the 2025 draft cycle, and like many before him, the Indianapolis Colts take Penn State tight end Tyler Warren at pick 14.
“Adding more playmakers on the perimeter is essential to helping Anthony Richardson reach his potential as a franchise quarterback,” wrote Brooks. “Warren is a freak athlete with the athletic measurements and production to tickle GM Chris Ballard’s fancy.”
If Warren is available at pick 14 when the actual draft rolls around, this selection makes all the sense in the world for the Colts.
The Colts have lacked a steady pass game presence at the tight end position. In fact, there were 25 individual tight ends during the 2024 season that totaled more receiving yards than the entire Colts tight end room did as a whole.
Warren, meanwhile, ranked second among all tight ends in receiving yards last season with 1,230. He was also second in total YAC and third in yards per route run.
In addition to his presence in the passing game, Warren is also versatile, able to line up across the formation, and a capable blocker as well. All those elements added together creates a level of unpredictability for an offense–something the Colts just do not have right now.
However, having said all of that, Daniel Jeremiah’s recent work highlights why Warren could be off the board before the Colts are even on the clock.
While Warren is without a doubt the most popular pick for the Colts in mock drafts at this time, there are a lot of teams who could use his wide-ranging skill set within their offense.
