Colts 2025 NFL draft: Quarterbacks at the Senior Bowl

With the Reese’s Senior Bowl taking place on February 1st, let’s take a position-by-position look at who will be participating in the week-long event and could be of interest to the Indianapolis Colts.

Up next is the quarterback position. If you missed our linebacker preview, you can find that here.

This time last year, the Colts were heading into the 2024 offseason knowing that Anthony Richardson was their starting quarterback. The eventual addition of Joe Flacco in free agency was to provide experienced depth behind Richardson.

However, just 12 months later, it doesn’t sound like Richardson is going to be guaranteed the starting role. He’ll have to earn it.

During GM Chris Ballard’s season-ending press conference, he said that the Colts “have to have competition” at quarterback this offseason. The reason behind that, as Ballard explained, is two fold. For one, Richardson has to show he can be healthy for a full season, and in addition to that, he also has to show that he can be more consistent as well.

Now, whether Ballard intends to bring in a free agent to compete with Richardson or utilize a draft pick on the position remains to be seen. But if the Colts end up looking towards the draft, here are some names from this week’s Senior Bowl to watch for.

Jalen Milroe, Alabama
Tyler Shough, Louisville
Seth Henigan, Memphis
Riley Leonard, Notre Dame
Will Howard, Ohio State
Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss
Dillon Gabriel, Oregon
Taylor Elgersma, Laurier University

The Senior Bowl is an invitation only, All-Star college football showcase held each year in Mobile, Alabama.

Here, top prospects are able to display their talents throughout the week against high-level competition, in drills, on the practice field, and then the week concludes with a game between the American and National teams.

The event attracts general managers, coaches, and scouts from across the league, and in addition to the on-field portion of the week, NFL teams also get the opportunity to meet with prospects as well.
