Colts 2025 NFL draft: 8 CBs in analyst’s top 50 big board

Cornerback is among the biggest needs that the Indianapolis Colts have to address this offseason, and the good news is that the early portion of the 2025 NFL draft should provide them with that opportunity.

Mike Renner of CBS Sports recently put together his early big board of the top 50 overall prospects in the upcoming draft, and included were eight members of the cornerback position.

3. Travis Hunter, Colorado
9. Will Johnson, Michigan
24. Azareye’h Thomas, Florida State
27. Jahdae Barron, Texas
28. Benjamin Morrison, Notre Dame
30. Trey Amos, Ole Miss
37. Shavon Revel Jr., East Carolina
48. Darien Porter, Iowa State

After keeping the status quo from 2023 to 2024 in the secondary, Colts’ GM Chris Ballard was again answer questions after the season about the performance of that unit. In short, he said that they have to get better in the secondary.

While we saw growth from Jaylon Jones and the emergence of Samuel Womack certainly helped, overall, this was still a pass defense that struggled.

The Colts finished the 2024 season giving up the fifth-most yards per pass attempt, they created the fourth-fewest pass deflections, the 10th highest passer rating and the second-highest completion rate.

Other top positions of need for the Colts include tight end and safety, but when it comes to Renner’s big board, their greatest opportunity to add high end talent perhaps comes at cornerback, where Indianapolis could have a number of options to choose form when on the clock in Rounds 1 and 2.
