Colorado Woman Convicted Of Murder In Boyfriend's Death

police

A Colorado woman, Ashley White, has been found guilty of second-degree murder, conspiracy to commit second-degree murder, and robbery in connection with the death of her boyfriend, Cody DeLisa, in August 2020. The 29-year-old woman's conviction came after a trial where prosecutors detailed the events leading up to the tragic incident.

According to the 17th Judicial District Attorney's Office, White and DeLisa had a tumultuous relationship marked by tension and criticism. DeLisa frequently criticized White for her struggles to secure a full-time job, which reportedly caused resentment and frustration for White. Prosecutors revealed that White even expressed regret in her diary for meeting DeLisa.

The situation escalated when White attempted to harm DeLisa's cat, raising concerns about her mental well-being. On the day of the murder, White, after a job interview in Denver, texted DeLisa about the interview outcome. DeLisa's skepticism about her job prospects upset White, leading her to meet a stranger named 'Scott' on a bus ride home.

During the bus ride, 'Scott' suggested killing DeLisa after hearing about their relationship and the job interview incident. White and 'Scott' then spent time together firing a gun before arriving at White's home, where 'Scott' introduced himself as White's brother from Texas. DeLisa was shot twice in the head, and his wallet was stolen.

White and 'Scott' spent a few days together before parting ways. White was later identified as a suspect, arrested, and charged in DeLisa's murder. Three years later, a woman came forward suggesting her boyfriend, Michael Stratton, may have been 'Scott.' Stratton was in custody for a separate murder in Pueblo but was deemed incompetent to stand trial.

District Attorney Brian Mason described the murder as tragic and senseless, attributing significant culpability to White. White is set for sentencing on April 4, facing the consequences of her actions in the death of Cody DeLisa.
