Deion Sanders is scheduled to undergo a surgical procedure Friday to improve the blood circulation in his legs.
The new Colorado football coach wrote Thursday on his Instagram account that he has a blood clot in each of his legs. Friday’s procedure will restore “proper bloodflow” so that doctors can fix the circulation issues in his ailing left foot, according to Sanders.
Thursday’s news comes after a report on The Pat McAfee Show indicated that the Pro Football Hall of Famer would undergo surgery on Friday for a blood clot in his groin. Additionally, in a video posted by Thee Pregame Show a week ago, Sanders said he lacked feeling in the bottom of his foot, lived with consistent pain and desired to straighten one toe that is “dislocated.”
However, doctors informed Sanders that he was at risk of having his left foot amputated if he planned to move forward with another procedure. Sanders has undergone multiple surgeries to his left foot that include the 55-year-old getting his second toe and big toe cut off due to clots hindering blood flow.
Amputation is not being considered in regard to Friday’s surgery, according to Sanders.
“There’s no talk of amputation,” Sanders wrote Thursday on Instagram.
Sanders was hired by Colorado in December. The Buffaloes open the 2023 season Sept. 2 against TCU.
