Colorado football coach Deion Sanders told reporters on Tuesday that standout Travis Hunter will not play in the Buffaloes’ game on Saturday against Arizona State.
Hunter will miss his third consecutive game following an injury he suffered from a gruesome hit in the first quarter of Colorado’s matchup against Colorado State on Sept. 16. When the Buffaloes two-way star suffered the injury, it was expected that he would miss the next three games.
Colorado (3–2) sits less than two weeks away from its bye week. As of now, it appears that Hunter will not return to the field until the Buffaloes road matchup on Oct. 28 against UCLA.
“I would love for him [Travis Hunter] to be out until the bye week,” Sanders said, per Brian Howell of the Boulder Daily Camera.
After Saturday’s clash between the Buffaloes and the Sun Devils, Colorado will face Stanford on Oct. 13. While Sanders suggested his timeline for Hunter’s return, the possibility of Hunter appearing against the Cardinal has not been officially ruled out.
In three games this season, Hunter has registered nine tackles, one interception and two pass deflections on defense while recording 16 catches for 213 yards on offense.
