The parents of a Colorado infant have been arrested and are facing felony charges after they allegedly left their one-month-old baby boy unattended in a car seat on the median of a road.

On Christmas morning, Colorado law enforcement received a 911 call from a passerby who spotted the unattended baby on the median and had stopped to help. Officers found the baby boy strapped to a car seat in the cold by himself, wearing only a diaper, according to the Adams County Sheriff's Office.

The baby had no visible injuries when he was found. Weather data demonstrates that temperatures in Denver sat at around 34 to 37 degrees Fahrenheit when the child was found, reported CBS News.

The child was taken to Children's Hospital Colorado where he is currently under observation and accompanied by a social worker. Authorities are unsure of when he was abandoned.

That afternoon, the sheriff's office shared another update disclosing that they had located the child's parents, thanking the public for their help during the search.

Jarvis Sims and Christina Thurman, the child's parents, were arrested by law enforcement and are both facing felony child abuse charges. They will appear in court on Thursday morning.
