Chris Watts, the Colorado dad who murdered his pregnant wife and their two young daughters in 2018, blamed his mistress for the horrific crime.
One letter written from prison was addressed to God and written in 2021. In it, Watts pinned his family's murders on his mistress, Nichol Kessinger.
"I was misled, I was tempted by a harlot. I was weak and I allowed myself to be fooled by an evil woman," he wrote, according to the Daily Mail.
"She led me from the path of righteousness. I know that you will deal with her someday. She will be judged," Watts continued, later adding he "allowed her to sway" him.
Watts and Kessinger were coworkers at an oil rig and started a relationship just months before the murders. On August 13, 2018, Watts suffocated his 34-year-old wife, Shanann, who was 15 weeks pregnant at the time. He then wrapped her in a sheet and took the couple's two daughters with him when he dumped her body at the oil field where he worked.
The now 36-year-old then smothered his youngest daughter, Celeste, 3, with her favorite blanket. His 4-year-old daughter, Bella, then begged her dad for her life before she too was strangled to death. Their bodies were found next to their mother's.
Watts pleaded guilty to all nine charges against him and was sentenced to five life sentences.
