Colin Farrell set to star in HBO Max series based on The Penguin

Following the blockbuster successes of “Joker” and “The Batman,” streaming fans of The Caped Crusader better brace themselves for The Penguin.

HBO Max announced that it has officially signed off on a straight-to-series order about the legendary Dark Knight nemesis.

According to a description from the fast-growing streaming service, the DC Comics drama will be an expansion of the scene filmmaker Matt Reeves set for “The Batman” and will center on the character played by Colin Farrell in the film.

“The world that Matt Reeves created for The Batman is one that warrants a deeper gaze through the eyes of Oswald Cobblepot,” Farrell said in Wednesday’s announcement. “I couldn’t be more excited about continuing this exploration of Oz as he rises through the darkened ranks to become The Penguin. Will be good to get him back on the streets of Gotham for a little madness and a little mayhem.”

In his statement, Reeves said that the Irish film star “exploded off the screen” as the webbed-footed Gotham City villain in the movie, which dominated the box office in its first week at the theaters.

“Having the chance to thoroughly explore the inner life of that character on HBO Max is an absolute thrill,” he added.
