Colin Farrell could receive his first Oscar nod this year as bookies include him among the early favourites to be nominated in the Best Actor category.
The Dublin born actor starred in The Banshees of Inisherin this year alongside Brendan Gleeson, Kerry Condon and Barry Keoghan. The film saw Colin play Padraic, who is left devastated when his buddy Colm (Gleeson) puts an end to their lifelong friendship as they find themselves on the opposite sides of the Irish Civil War.
Colin is among the front runners for the Best Actor gong at odds of 8/1 for his role in dark comedy drama, according to Ladbrokes. Farrell faces fierce competition in the category with Brendan Fraser the current favourite at 6/5 for his performance in The Whale, followed by Austin Butler at 5/2 for Elvis, and Hugh Jackman at 7/1 for The Son.

Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: "It looks like Colin Farrell could be destined for Oscars glory next year for his starring role in The Banshees of Inisherin, with punters backing the Irish favourite for Best Actor. We have also seen money for the film itself in the Best Picture market.
"If the latest money is anything to go by, it could be a great year indeed for Ireland at the 2023 Oscars."
The odds of The Banshees of Inisherin being nominated in the Best Picture Category currently stand at 16/1. This follows The Fabelmans at 7/2, Babylon at 6/1, Everything Everywhere All At Once at 6/1, Bardo at 9/1, She Said at 10/1, Thirteen Lives at 10/1, Women Talking at 10/1, Amsterdam at 14/1, The Woman King at 14/1 and Poor Things at 16/1.
Colin took home the award for Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival in September. leading many critics to speculate about the Irishman's Oscar chances. Variety said that Colin will receive his first Oscar nomination for the performance "if there’s any justice", while Vanity Fair said The Banshees of Inisherin is Colin Farrell "at his best".
Accepting his Venice film Festival Best Actor award in a video message, Farrell said he was "utterly shocked and thrilled". Colin Farrell has a number of awards under his belt including A Golden Globe for In Bruges and an MTV Movie Award for Phone Booth.
Many believe that Colin was snubbed of Oscar glory in 2008 for his role in In Bruges. He also starred alongside Brendan Gleeson in that flick. Both stars will appear on the Late Late Show tonight after the Irish premiere in Dublin.
