Coleraine: Around 1,000 properties without electricity after power cut in Co Derry town centre

Around a thousand homes in a Co Derry town are without power due to "equipment failure", NIE networks has said.

The power cut is affecting homes in the Coleraine area.

NIE Networks say the fault has been logged and a repair team will be assigned "as soon as possible".

Local MLA Clare Sugden highlighted the power cut on social media, writing: "There seems to be a number of power cuts across Coleraine town centre currently."

She said her constituency office is one of the properties to have lost power.

She added: "I’ve reported the cut to NI Electricity who have advised they are aware of the problem and have sent a team out to look into the issue."

The estimated "restoration time" listed on NIE Networks' power check website is 2pm.

The website states that a total of 968 customers are affected, with a separate power cut elsewhere in Coleraine also listed for restoration this afternoon.
