The 'Wagatha Christie' libel trial between Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy will begin today at London's High Court.
Back in October 2019, Wayne Rooney's wife publicly accused Jamie Vardy's wife of leaking 'false stories' to the press about her private life.
Coleen apparently carried out a month-long 'sting operation' where she used her Instagram Stories to post fake scenarios and watched to see which ones were printed in tabloids.
Mrs Vardy absolutely denies the allegations and sued Mrs Rooney for damages for libel over the 'untrue and unjustified defamatory attack'.
In an Instagram post in 2019, Mrs Rooney accused Mrs Vardy of leaking stories about her to the press.
According to The Mirror, she had posted a story about travelling to Mexico to find out about gender selection, making a return to TV, and the basement flooding at her new house - which had all been shared with The Sun.
She had altered the privacy settings on her Instagram so that only Vardy's account could see the stories.
Shortly after Rooney's accusation, Vardy responded on Instagram and vehemently denied any involvement.
The upcoming trials comes as it was reported that Rooney, 35, is trying "hard to stay positive" despite being on crutches.
The mum-of-four was recently pictured on crutches with her foot in a brace, for reasons which remain a mystery, but which have left her "gutted", New magazine reported at the end of March.
Addressing the injury, a source told New magazine: "She's gutted by it. She needs to wear the boot and take it easy for a few weeks, but it means she's not able to go to the gym."
"She wants to be focused... she wants to get herself in a good frame of mind for court. She's trying so hard to stay positive so this has been a bit of a blow," the insider said.
Last week, sources claimed the final legal bill for the High Court battle between Rooney and Vardy could reach as high as £3million.
A legal source told Mirror : “The costs of a case like this are enormous but not entirely unexpected if both women are refusing to back down.”
One legal expert said that Vardy may hold the “slight edge” going into Tuesday’s trial but the case was still relatively evenly-balanced.
They said: “It’s all to play for but at the end of the day no-one is a winner, other than the lawyers. It remains to be seen, also, what other bombshells will be served up….and which woman will take the bigger PR hit.”
