Coleen Rooney and kids reunite with Wayne in the US after he lands new job

Coleen Rooney is enjoying her stint in America as a tourist alongside her family.

The star's "quick visit" to New York City and Washington with her four sons comes as husband Wayne Rooney prepares for his new job over in the United States, following his exit from Derby County's management team earlier this year.

The former England striker, 36, and Coleen have spent recent weeks apart, after Wayne signed a £1million-a-year role as boss of his old Major League Soccer club DC United and Coleen remained in England with their young children.

It's not yet been confirmed whether Coleen and the couple's sons will join Wayne in Washington full-time at any point in the future, but earlier this year it was revealed the mum-of-four had a tough time in America the last time her husband's career led to them living abroad.

Thanks to the Wagatha Christie trial, text messages exchanged between the star and Rebekah Vardy in 2018 were read out, in which Coleen dubbed Washington "nice to visit but different to live" and described the experience over there as "tough".

Former Everton FC striker Wayne first joined DC United in 2018 and his entire family joined him in Washington at the time until his exit after just 18 months - citing family reasons for his decision to become a player-coach at Derby in August 2019.

At the time, Rebekah texted her then-pal Coleen to see how she was finding life in America, to which the Liverpool-born star replied: "Hiya, hope your all week [well]. We’re ok thanks its tough being on your own though."

She added: "Washington isn’t the best....nice to visit but different to live. Not loads for the kids to do, mostly park, hardly any soft plays and things like that. It’s quite behind the UK, which I never would have thought. But we will get used to it (I hope).

"Wayne is loving it, and the kids are fine, settled into school straight away. So really happy they are fine. Thanks for the message love xx."

Coleen's husband confirmed his second stint - first as manager - at the American football club last month, following on from his original two-year time period at DC United as a player.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, Coleen - who recently hit back at photoshop allegations - was all-smiles as she shared a series of snaps from her recent visit to see Wayne with their four sons; Kai, 12, Klay, nine, Kit, six and Cass, four.

In the snaps shared with her 930,000 followers, the Rooney family can be seen posing in front of the famous Statue of Liberty and Times Square in New York City, alongside gathering together for a picture outside the White House in Washington.

"Quick visit to New York & Washington #FamilyTime," Coleen captioned her mini holiday photo album, as fans rushed to compliment her on the snaps.

"Loving the Everton kit," one fan noted, referring to the football strip Kit, six, wears in the snaps, as another quipped: "Lovely family photos nice big smiles from everyone. enjoy your break."

A third joked with Coleen, saying: "Impressed that you can get everyone to look at the camera, let alone smile [laughing emoji] x."
