Coleen Rooney and husband Wayne 'closer than ever' after Wagatha Christie trial

Wayne Rooney has been his wife Coleen 's 'rock' throughout the stressful Wagatha Christie trial.

WAG Rebekah Vardy is suing Coleen, 36, for libel over an Instagram post that accused her account of leaking private stories to the press - which Rebekah has continued to deny.

Coleen posted the now famous Instagram story in October 2019, and since then, the WAGS have waged war on one another.

In recent weeks, tensions have reached an all time high as Coleen and Rebekah faced one another for the first time since the drama went down almost three years ago.

Throughout the duration of the Wagatha trial, Wayne has been beside his wife the whole way through, and sources have revealed that Coleen thinks of her footballer husband as her 'rock' following their court appearances.

Although Wayne and Coleen have experienced their fair shares of ups and downs in their marriage - including Wayne's infidelity and binge drinking problems - it was the Wagatha trial which ultimately brought them closer than ever.

"It has ended up being the thing that brought Coleen and Wayne back together," a source told Heat Magazine.

"Wayne has really shown up for Coleen when she needed him most and he has been a rock for her.

"As far as he was concerned, there was never a question over whether he would sit by her side every day and fight her corner, which was a little unexpected for even Coleen as the trial has created more tears than anything they have gone through before," the insider added.

Wayne has been pictured entering the court room with his wife over the duration of the trail as he showed his support for Coleen amid the stressful time.

The closing arguments have been made and the trial has now drawn to a close, with Mrs Justice Steyn’s judgment expected at a later date.
