Coleen Nolan has introduced her new Tinder boyfriend on Loose Women for his first TV interview.
The 56-year-old panellist met Michael Jones, 58, on dating app Tinder last year, and has been reluctant to reveal him to the world as she was keen to keep their romance under wraps.
But in a surprise move, Coleen decided to unveil her new man on the ITV chat show on Tuesday, and she was mortified when her co-hosts Ruth Langsford, Janet Street-Porter and Brenda Edwards sent her away and grilled him on live TV.
The TV star has insisted Michael, who works for a supermarket in logistics, isn’t interested in the glitz and glamour of showbiz, but as he was questioned by her Loose Women pals, he revealed he’s now called ‘Mr Hollywood’ at work.
“Obviously seeing Coleen's face pop up was a bit strange,” Michael said, as he admitted he recognised her straight away, and they chatted for “a few weeks” before meeting up at a pub.
“I didn't think for once that we'd match, let alone hear from her,” he added.
He confessed he’s accepted the attention their relationship is getting, and after they were splashed across the pages of OK! magazine to debut their new romance, he’s “just getting on with it”.
“I obviously knew that was part of her life, that's her job being in the media. So you have to accept it and just get on with it,” he explained.
However, some viewers were baffled over Coleen’s obvious discomfort at having her new man grilled by her friends on live TV, with some questioning why she was so adamant Michael doesn’t want to be famous.
“Colleen hates it so much she sold the story to a magazine and brought him on this programme,” one tweeted.
“He is not in the fame game which is refreshing because he doesn't like all that… but here he is anyway!!” another added, as one agreed: “Why on earth is he doing an exclusive on the show after their magazine deal.”
Others commented on the awkward interview set up, as Coleen was hauled backstage while Michael was interviewed without her.
“The secondhand embarrassment I’m feeling right now,” one viewer posted.
“Why would you do this interview??” another cringed, as one added: “Watching it right now in disbelief.”
But some of Coleen’s fans were delighted to see her find love again after her split from ex-husband Ray Fensome, who she separated from in 2018 after 17 years together.
“I’m so pleased for you! You really deserve some happiness! Best wishes and take care of yourselves!” one tweeted.
“Oh so pleased for you both good luck for the future,” another added.
