Coleen Nolan gets Loose Women support as she relives family's 'traumatic' ordeal

Coleen Nolan received the firm support of her Loose Women colleagues as she opened up about her family's terrifying experience of birth trauma.

Coleen took her seat on the panel of the ITV discussion show for the third day in a row, joining co-stars Christine Lampard, Kelle Bryan and Jane Moore. And, after the first ad break of the hour long episode, the topic of birth trauma was raised by Loose Women host Christine, who commented: "Despite medical advancements, child birth is still a medical source of trauma and yet the physical and emotional effects are rarely discussed

"For many the birth experience can be so traumatic that it can bring on PTSD, cause flashbacks and even harm a new mum's ability to bond with their new baby."

Christine then remarked that Coleen's famous family had 'experienced it first hand,' as Coleen elaborated: "It is traumatic. My sister Anne, she was the first one out of all the sisters to her pregnant and we were all so excited and then she actually ended up before her due date, getting not preeclampsia, she actually got eclampsia.

"She lived in Torquay at the time and we lived in London. We got this phone call saying 'you need to get here now because she's got 30% of surviving; her organs are shutting down.'"

She continued: "It just went from being the most exciting, 'we can't wait to see our new niece and grandchild' and all of that...to Anne and the baby Amy; they both had fits. Anne had three fits, Amy had fits inside of her, so when she came out - they had to do an emergency caesarean obviously - Amy was whisked off and it as really, really traumatic

My dad got there and said 'I'm here to see my daughter Anne' and they said 'that's Anne' and he was like 'no it isn't as she'd ballooned with all the toxins etc."

Coleen added: "'it just took what should have been a beautiful moment and made it very, very traumatic. Luckily they both survived it and were absolutely fine."

After Coleen then revealed that her late sister Bernie lost her first daughter and had to give birth to her stillborn at six months pregnant, Kelle, sitting next to her praised the former Celebrity Big Brother star for being 'so honest,' telling her: "I don't think someone like you gets enough credit. You do share and you help so many women out there by sharing your stories."
