Coleen and Wayne Rooney 'quietly sell their Cheshire mansion for £3.7m'

Coleen and Wayne Rooney have reportedly raked in £3.7 million from selling their former home.

The couple purchased the plot for £1.5 million in 2005 and built a stunning five-bedroom mansion.

According to reports, the family put the home up for sale earlier this year and sold it five months after they moved into a bigger mansion in the Cheshire countryside.

Their previous home had a gym, swimming pool, cinema and a spa bath.

Unsurprisingly, it also had a five-a-side football pitch where former Manchester United player Wayne and his children practised.

A source told The Sun : “They were sad to sell it but their new house is so amazing they had no reason to keep it.”

Mirror have contacted the couple's representatives for comment.

In December last year, the couple and their children – Kai, Klay, Kit, and Cass – moved into their new mansion after four years of delays.

The couple bought the 40-acre plot in Knutsford, Cheshire, back in 2017 for £4million, and have ploughed more than £16million into the lavish estate in order for it to be perfect for their family.

They were due to move into the six-bedroom mansion early last year, but were delayed once again due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The house features a television room, bar, wine store, snooker room, cinema, gym, hot tub, swimming pool, plunge pool and steam room, as well as two lifts – one for the family, and one for any visiting guests.

There are also horse stables, a huge garage that can accommodate six cars, a lavish orangery, and two man-made lakes.

A whiskey and cigar room completes with home, which is for former footballer Wayne – as well as a study and a library.

Meanwhile, Wayne has been busy with his move to the US after being unveiled as the new manager of MLS side DC United in July.

The mother-of-four won't be moving, but she is apparently "100 percent behind" her husband's new role.

"Wayne and Coleen obviously discussed it and she is 100 percent behind the move because she realises what a great opportunity it is for Wayne," a source previously claimed.

"There was no chance she was ever going to tell him not to go and she hopes to get out to America with the boys as much as she can to cheer on the team and to support Wayne."
