Cole Palmer is hoping a goal-scoring cameo for him at the Nou Camp will provide the springboard for more game-time at Manchester City this season. Pep Guardiola and his star-studded team faced Barcelona in a charity match on Wednesday night.
Goals from Julian Alvarez, Palmer and Riyad Mahrez earned City a 3-3 draw on their midweek trip to Spain as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Frenkie de Jong and Memphis Depay netted for the Catalan giants. It was a game that was staged for ex-Barcelona goalkeeper Juan Carlos Unzue.
He was diagnosed with incurable ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) two years ago and proceeds raised were to be donated towards ALS research. For Palmer, the meeting scheduled for a fantastic cause also offered him with an opportunity to strengthen his claims for a first-team place at City as the campaign goes on.

During his post-match interview with in-house media, Palmer said: "It was so good. You know about the stadium and the history here for the team that we played against, so it was amazing to play and I'm buzzing.
"We train with these players every day and I'm used to it now. When I go out I've got to take my opportunity. It wasn't really a friendly game, for me, because I've got to prove myself. I enjoyed it."
Palmer added: "It's very important. When I come onto the pitch I've got to score or get an assist so I'm glad to have done that, hopefully I will get some game-time as the season goes on.
"I've got to keep focused and work hard. It was a great cause and a great match so I'm glad that everyone took part because it was for a very good cause."
