Coldplay fans outraged by 'massive' Ticketmaster queues and high resale prices for 2025 UK tour

Coldplay fans have expressed frustration while attempting to secure tickets for the band's recently announced 2025 UK concerts.

Earlier this month, the iconic British band revealed that their world tour would include stops in London and Hull’s Craven Park next summer to support their upcoming tenth album Moon Music.

On Thursday, September 26, a limited number of presale tickets became available via Ticketmaster for six shows at London’s Wembley Stadium, scheduled for next August. A general sale was set for 9am on Friday morning.

Fans who managed to access the presale received an email detailing the ticketing process along with an early access code.

However, many encountered long queues when they logged onto Ticketmaster, leading to disappointment as they tried to secure their tickets.

One fan wrote on X: “What's the point of album pre-sale when people can sign up for free and you 109443 in the queue! How is that fair?!?!”

“How is that - I start refreshing the resale link every second at 8:30am to access the waiting room - get in at first opportunity,” another added. “Get into the queue at the first opportunity at 9am and there are 140k people in front of me?”

A third added: “Absolute shambles yet again from Ticketmaster, scammers already selling tickets for 5x the price meanwhile I'm still 122k in the queue, joke.”

Another fan raised concerns about ticket prices, stating: “I had 900 people ahead of me in the queue, and when I finally got through, the only ticket available was £192. What a joke! What happened to the £53 tickets? @Ticketmaster is a rip-off.”

Others quickly began sharing screenshots from the secondary ticket site Viagogo, where a single ticket for one of the London show was listed for £1,327 shortly after the presale began.

One frustrated fan posted a screenshot of the London gig on August 27, saying, “While I’m sat in a queue for @coldplay tickets Viagogo are already cashing in from the people ahead of me…. Makes me sick @TicketmasterUK”.

“@coldplay so disappointed that I have been in the queue since nice and early for pre sale tickets for London and am already seeing them for resale on viagogo for £700 plus,” a disappointed fan penned. “Seems like we have no chance.”

The experience of Coldplay fans echoes that of concertgoers who attempted to secure tickets for the Oasis 2025 reunion tour. Tickets for fans who missed the initial sale were being resold on secondary sites for significantly higher prices.

In response to criticism regarding the ticket purchasing process during the original sale, the Manchester band organised an additional invite-only sale for shows at London’s Wembley Stadium on September 27 and 28. This move aimed to address the backlash against dynamic pricing, which was implemented due to “unprecedented” demand.

However, even during this sale, tickets still surfaced on secondary site Viagogo.

However, for concert-goers eager to secure tickets for the upcoming Wembley dates without the hassle of ticket platforms, several hospitality packages are available directly from Wembley. Starting at £499, these packages guarantee premium seating, VIP access, gourmet dining, and dedicated service.

The Standard has contacted Ticketmaster for comment.
