Cold Case Murder Of Shauna Harvey Solved After 31 Years

Crime Scene Banner Picture.

Missouri investigators have announced a breakthrough in the 1990 murder case of a 22-year-old woman, previously known as 'Grace Doe.' The victim, identified as Shauna Harvey, was last seen alive on Halloween of that year before her remains were found hogtied behind a barn months later.

The case had potential suspects, including notorious individuals like Dennis Rader and Larry Hall, but neither were responsible for Harvey's death. Detectives Lorie Howard and Rhonda Wise pursued the case relentlessly, eventually partnering with the Othram genealogy lab to uncover Harvey's true identity.

Authorities revealed that Harvey encountered Talfey Reeves on that fateful day in 1990. Reeves allegedly bound, assaulted, and fatally drugged Harvey. Reeves, a local figure with a criminal history, passed away in 2021 before facing charges for first-degree murder.

Harvey's half-sister, Danielle Pixler, shared insights into Harvey's troubled past, marked by foster care and state custody. Despite the breakthrough in the case, Howard expressed determination to keep Harvey's memory alive.

In a separate development, Dennis Rader, the BTK serial killer, remains under investigation for other cases, including the disappearance of Cynthia 'Cyndi' Dawn Kinney in 1976. Rader, serving a life sentence, confessed to 10 murders near his Kansas home but denies involvement in additional cases.

Investigators offered Rader immunity in hopes of eliciting further confessions, but he maintained his innocence. The investigation into Rader's potential ties to other crimes continues, as authorities seek closure for families of victims.
