Scotland’s digital skills academy CodeClan has partnered with Glasgow City Council to offer free places on its July bootcamp to Glasgow residents.
The four-week course is aimed at helping participants learn skills that will allow them to enter the workforce.
Places on the digital skills bootcamp are available to anyone aged between 16 to 24 living in the Glasgow City Council area who is currently unemployed or not in education.
Upon completion, students will be presented with a SQA-accredited certificate and will receive four-week paid internships.
CodeClan is now seeking Glasgow-based companies as prospective employers - which must be accredited living wage employers - to host the internships from mid-August.
Loral Quinn, chief executive at CodeClan, said: “We are now building a list of employer organisations for the paid internships, and we want to hear from any companies who might want to host an internship.
“It’s a win-win because in addition to driving employment, you can end up with a fantastic employee who makes a real difference to your business.”
Anne McLister, head of digital economy at Glasgow City Council, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with CodeClan to support young Glaswegians to gain valuable digital skills along with a paid internship.
“The Glasgow city tegion has a flourishing tech sector and this is a very exciting opportunity for young people to develop the skills to enable them to be part of that ecosystem.”
The coding bootcamp runs between 10 July and 4 August, with applications now open.
Specialising in software development and data courses, CodeClan has produced 2,000 graduates from 120 cohorts from its Edinburgh and Glasgow campuses, as well as remote learning, since launching in 2015.
The not-for-profit organisation works with more than 300 industry partners, including Skyscanner, FanDuel, Baillie Gifford, DC Thomson, BlackRock, Tesco Bank and Sainsbury’s Bank.
