There’s a spice craze going on in our food and drinks market, and one massive name does not want to be left out.
Coca-Cola is set to launch a new flavour into the market – their first release in three years – which is set to hit some shelves as early as March.
The drinks giant is releasing Coca-Cola Spiced, firstly in North America, but says it is planning to bring the flavour to UK shores imminently.
Coca-Cola Spiced and Coca-Cola Spiced Zero Sugar will go on sale in the US and Canada on February 19.
When is Coca-Cola spiced coming to the UK?
No official date has been released for the UK market to sample the new flavours, but it is expected that it will become available to buy by the end of March.
Those who have tried it say that it is a “ramped-up version” of their current flavours, with a hint of raspberry.
Coca-Cola is notoriously secretive when it comes to revealing its ingredients and methods, so it is unlikely we will ever be told exactly what has been put in it to make it different.
Already in the past they have tried fruity twists on the classic Coke – ranging from strawberry, to raspberry, lime, and even a mango offering.
Coca-Cola’s North American marketing chief Shakir Moin said: “If you go to the aisles, you’ll see the amount of spiciness has gone up because consumers’ taste palettes have evolved. We realised that could be an opportunity for us.
“Can we dial up something which is already part of our formula and bring in a taste profile that is interesting, unique, and brings in the next generation of consumers?”
The big boss added that normally Coca-Cola takes “at least a year” to develop a new beverage taste, but said the company managed to create the Spiced version within just seven weeks, adding that he hopes the company will continue to replicate that speed with future products.
